My name is Steve McCarthy and I teach History at Bourne High School. I saw your organization on the internet when I googled "Cape Cod Veterans" I checked out your web site and I applaud your work. Veterans are quickly forgotten in our society so yours is a worthy movement. Since you interact with veterans I want to make you aware of an event at Bourne High School. On November 8th we will be bringing back our "Salute To Veterans". I say "bringing back" because for 10 years we held this event, but we needed to suspend it for 4 years due to Covid. We would be delighted if any of the vets you work with would like to join us on that day.. The day consists of a complimentary lunch at 11:30 in The BHS Library for all attendees. The attendees will be veterans, current service members and local government officials. During the lunch members of our The National Honor Society and Student Council will chat with the attendees about their experiences and most importantly thank them for their service. At 1:00 pm everyone will head to The BHS Gym where the entire BHS student body will be waiting to applaud the guests as they walk in. The BHS Band and Chorus will play The National Anthem and patriotic songs. The highlight is when the band plays the hymn for each branch of the service and the service members stand as their hymn is played. Like I said it would be great if members of your group could join us. I can only tell you that this is a day where the young people at Bourne High School want to thank veterans for their service. Nothing more. Please email me back or call me at 617-834-5667 if you know of anyone who would be interested in attending. .
