Nov. and Dec. were great months for the organization. Veterans Day Concert was great with Dave & Muriel bidding $1,000 for a comic book that was donated by the Veteran whose house in Hyannis we repaired last summer. A $1,000 check will be given to the Veteran this month.

 Veterans Day Dedication of the Merrill Park new Walkway & Deck overlooking Bass River was so memorable. CCVI and VFW Post 10274 Dennis have been working to get this done for 10 years. Thanks to Brian Everett, Town of Dennis Natural Resources it is now complete. Please visit the Park and the final Memorial Boards will be down soon. Attended the Cape Cod Military, Veteran and Family Collaborative meeting on Nov. 7th at the Four C’s, Veterans groups working together for the betterment of Veterans.

Nov. 9th members laid wreaths at Bourne National Cemetery. Nov. 10th  CCVI President addressed students at Monomoy Middle School. Also members attended the opening of the new 4C’s Veterans Club.

 Nov. 12th CCVI assisted two needy Veterans in Harwich. A total of over $3,000 in TD Bank Gift Cards, checks and other assistance was given. Thanks to Chaplain Harry Watling and his church for providing clothing for the young child.

On Nov. 17th a Needy Veteran who is deploying next year and had fallen on hard times requested help with her car. CCVI purchased four new tires and Finance officer Scotty Martin did the engine repairs that allowed this soldier to get her car inspected, so she could get on the Military Base. Received a wonderful letter from this Veteran and it will be posted to the web site and read at the Jan. meeting along with many other thank you letters and e-mails.

Thanksgiving Day Jack Griffith delivered 2 complete Turkey Dinners, to the Two Harwich Veterans Families, thanks to Harwich Stop & Shop for the donation. Jack is installing new storm doors for the Veteran with a small child on Jan.2nd.

Dec. 4th President and Vice President gave presentation to Osterville Veteran’s Club. They were very generous in donating $1,000 to CCVI.

 

Dec. 6th was our Christmas Party at the Highlands Golf Course all had a great time.

Dec. 13th CCVI and other Veterans groups held our Annual Christmas Visit to Eagle Pond Nursing Home. Santa (Sam Franco) and Elf (Joe Fallon, what great guys) along with Kathleen Healy singing brought such great cheer and happiness to the residents. Thanks Chaplain Harry Watling for setting this up for years.

Dec. 15th delivered $2,000 in TD Bank Gift Cards to VA Readjustment Center in Hyannis for eight families with children who need assistance for Christmas.

Dec 28th sent TD Bank Gift cards to Veteran in Bourne who was laid off.

Dec.29th handed out $300 in TD Bank Cards to area Veterans for food and fuel needs.

Dec. 30th Rep. Tim Whelan notified us needy disabled Veteran who had a stroke and needs our assistance, The Yarmouth Veteran has been out of work since Oct and could use food assistance. The only question is the amount. This will be discussed at the meeting.

Dave’s Ultimate Chili Challenge is set for Feb. 14th at the Irish Village from12:30-4PM, More at the meeting, now on Facebook & web site.
